Spathiphyllum - 'Peace Lilly'
The peace Lily is a classic, and even a star of the silver screen (if you ask us, they’re quite clearly the main character in Edgar Wright’s Hot Fuzz). As they’re native to hot rainforest conditions, the peace lily loves anywhere with reasonable amounts of humidity. Though, on finding their way to our shores in the 1800s, they've actually managed to adapt reasonably well to the UK’s very un-tropical weather. Maybe we should be like the peace lily and complain less about the lack of UK sunshine?
Exotic in looks, with its distinctive growth and colours, the Spathiphyllum isn’t as much of a diva as one would expect them to be. Light and water conditions are no-nonsense and not complicated, and it’ll even cope well in low light conditions like hallways or rooms with blinds.
If conditions of the plant are met, they tend to flower every spring, so if worth the effort of keeping them healthy. And it’s not just looks that make it a winner, as in China it’s believed the peace lily can cleans the aura - which sounds nice.
(All plants come in plastic grow pot unless otherwise stated)
