An extremely rare variation of the Monstera Deliciosa
World famous, instantly recognisable and a centre piece in any indoor jungle, the cheese plant has been a fan favourite for the last few years, and it's easy to see why
A part of the Araceae family, this world-famous plant stems from Southern Mexico, and is easily one of the most recognisable plants across all fields. You don’t even have to be a plant lover to name it either, with its huge, glossy leaves helping push you in the direction of monstera.
It’s Latin name Monstera Deliciosa literally translates as ‘delicious monster’, but maybe avoid eating it in the home, as the ‘delicious’ part comes from the fact that, in the wild, it bears fruit. Growing in the jungles of central America it evolved its famous ‘hole’ pattern which we know it for today, explaining why it’s got the very cute nickname of the Swiss Cheese plant (once again, don’t eat it).
The large gaps in the leaves allow light to reach the lower foliage, and the holes grow bigger as the plant grows larger - so a very considerate plant when you think about it (also don’t be surprised when buying this plant that its without its famous holes - give it time to grow into them). It’s not a complicated plant to look after either, and the foliage is absolutely beautiful considering the minimal effort you’ll have to put in.
