One of the more interesting and usual plants on the market, the Lucky bamboo certainly stands out in a home full of traditional looking UK houseplants.

The world of plants is never simple when it comes to names. Yes, the Dracaena sanderiana (also called Dracaena braunii) can be referred to as bamboo, and resembles it too, but it’s not true bamboo, nor does it have anything to do with Japanese culture. And after extensive research we’ve also discovered it’s not actually lucky, either. You really can’t believe anything on the internet, can you?

The name most likely came about for marketing reasons. Grown as a house plant when not in tropical areas, it performs well in containers and loves partial shade, as well as bright but not direct light. Like bamboo though, the Lucky Bamboo plant absolutely loves water, so keep that soil moist, or if grown loose, submerged in water.

(All plants come in plastic grow pot unless otherwise stated)
