The Alocasia Zebrina sure does have its shape. Its gigantic leaves are a great centre piece in any room and are nowhere near as dominating as they suggest.

This plant isn’t just compared to one animal, but two! While maybe not an exact replica of an elephant ears size, the Alocasia Zebrina sure does have its shape. Its gigantic leaves are a great centre piece in any room and are nowhere near as dominating as they suggest (though, make sure you have a bit of space). Just as impressive is its other animal connection, with the stems of the Alocasia Zebrina displaying a striking stripy pattern that looks just like, you guess it’s, a Zebra.

Growing at the base of larger trees in its native to Brazil, this eye-catching, almost fantastical plant demands attention, and easily justifies its name. The large leaves in the wild span great areas, catching rainfall and available sunlight to nourish it almost constantly throughout the day. To replicate these conditions indoors, make sure you bathe this beauty in lots of indirect sunlight, and have the humidity in the room high.
