Dypsis Lutescens - 'Areca palm'
This versatile plant is still one of the most popular houseplants across the UK, and it’s easy to see why as it’s so easy to look after
A handsome, naturally eye-catching houseplant, that doesn't need hours of care. It’s large, but not dominating, beautiful but not too complicated – if we’re honest, it’s just a perfect palm.
The stems are closely grown upright together, and the long arching linear leaves cascade out of them creating the classic ‘palm look’, though can sometimes be mistaken for bamboo. Dypsis lutescens, also known as Golden Cane Palm or Areca Palm is a species of flowering plant from the family Arcaceae, and is naïve to Madagascar.
There was a time when this plant was an endangered species, but the popularity of them means they’re now seen everywhere. It’s a simple plant to care for with regular watering needed through the growing season, and reduced in the winter months. It tends to grow fat in the UK, so you’ll be rewarded with beautiful green leaves over the summer months.
(All plants come in plastic grow pot unless otherwise stated)
