Nephrolepis exaltata 'Bostoniensis' - Boston Fern
A favourite of a Victorian household, this fern brings grace, style, and calm of the Nineteenth century to the modern world.
Ferns in the wild thrive in hot and humid locations. Because they’re rather temperamental in the heat they also love a bit of shade, so the ideal locations for them are in swamps and forest covered marshes. If it’s hot and wet, then they’re happy. Being an exotic plant, it meant the Victorians of the UK just had to have them in their homes, as anything from a foreign land was a house must. You may wonder how they went from swamps to UK homes, but houses in the Victorian era wouldn’t cut it as a fancy Swedish showroom, as they were poorly lit and damp - perfect for ferns.
When it comes to looking after ferns in the modern age there’s no simple rule. - never let it dry out. The soil should remain moist, and the room should be constantly humid. Other than that, they take very little care (though make sure not to touch them too much - they love their space).
Large ferns are not stocked in store and will be ordered.
(All plants come in plastic grow pot unless otherwise stated).
